NEW BADEN, Ill. (AP) — The mother of a 4-year-old girl who was reportedly bitten during a 6-mile bus ride home from preschool says she has doubts about Wesclin Community School District's account of the incident.

Brittany Hinojosa (hee-no-HO'-sah) of New Baden says her daughter, Maliyah, was bitten on the right arm, shoulder and hand by another 4-year-old Friday afternoon. She says the girl has lost the nail on one finger.

Hinojosa says she wants an investigation of the substitute bus driver on the run from Trenton to new Baden.

School Superintendent David Daum told St. Louis station KMOV-TV on Monday the driver did not appear remiss.

Daum said the driver stopped the bus twice when he heard Maliyah crying, and did not see any injuries on the girl. He adds the girl was wearing a long-sleeved shirt which might have hidden any bite marks.
